Why I became a Doula

As the proud mother of my grown daughter and Nana to two beautiful granddaughters, I've long cherished the profound miracle of new life. Just recently, I witnessed the raw intensity and unyielding power of birth up close, supporting the arrival of my twin niece and nephew. That experience deepened my lifelong awe of this sacred journey. It was clear then—and remains so today—that my path as a doula is a divine calling from God.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as a professional chef in a nursing home, I found myself immersed in heartfelt exchanges every day. Essential workers and a handful of residents would share vivid birth stories, weaving tales of life's miraculous beginnings into our routines. Even three years on, while serving as head chef for the VIP lounge at a bustling New Jersey concert arena, those conversations persisted—rich discussions on pregnancies and more enchanting birth narratives unfolding around me. It felt like divine whispers, God quietly sowing the seeds of my future calling.

I remember thinking about this deeply and asking God, "What is going on here? What are you trying to tell me?" and not long after that, I began to envision a new career path, and started my training and certification to become a birth doula. I had no idea at the time that it would lead me to my new dream career, which has become my second passion today.

Fortunately for me, I didn't have to give up on my first passion (Culinary Arts) when I switched careers. I've found a way to combine my culinary skills with my new role as a doula by offering my clients an optional service: teaching them how to prepare nutritious meals, or actually cooking the meals for them myself if they make the arrangement.

With a passion for supporting expectant mothers, I offer my services as a knowledgeable guide and skilled communicator, empowering families to make informed decisions during pregnancy and childbirth.
